As the nation?s capital heads into overdrive on the labor, tax, regulatory and other issues that matter to your restaurant business, mark your calendars now for the National Restaurant Association's biggest grassroots lobbying event: the Public Affairs Conference, April 17 to 18, 2012.
The restaurant industry's 2012 lobbying conference -- the NRA's 26th annual event -- will draw hundreds of restaurant operators to Washington, D.C., to learn about the policy issues affecting the restaurant industry. Topics will include taxes, wage-and-hour rules and health?insurance mandates, among others. And as Washington, D.C., focuses on job growth, one prominent topic on restaurateurs' minds will be regulatory overload, and whether the cumulative impact of national, state and local regulations on restaurant businesses threatens to derail job growth even as the White House and lawmakers say job creation is their top priority.
Speakers from Congress and the Administration will address the group at various points throughout?the conference. On April 18, restaurateurs will organize into state delegations to go to Capitol Hill to meet with their representatives and senators, followed by a congressional reception. The event also includes a gala awards dinner to showcase what restaurants do for their communities and for career opportunities for millions of Americans.
