NEW YORK (AP) ? Nets part-owner Jay-Z will open the team's new Brooklyn arena by performing there next September.
"Maybe one, maybe two, maybe three" concerts, he said at a news conference Monday across the street from the construction site.
The hip-hop mogul paused then added, "I sound like LeBron."
James made a proclamation he may later rue when the Miami Heat's Big Three were introduced in 2010, saying of the championships they would win: "Not two, not three, not four, not five, not six, not seven."
The Nets' owners believe their arrival at Brooklyn's Barclays Center will help vault the team into title contention with James' Heat and other elite franchises. The club is scheduled to move from New Jersey for the 2012-13 season.
And it will be officially called the Brooklyn Nets, Jay-Z said.
Dates for his concerts have not been set. But he promised: "Definitely more than one."
