Is breast cancer hereditary even for men?

Is breast cancer hereditary even for men?
I just found out 30 min. ago that my male cousin just came out of surgery for breast cancer. He had a masectomey.
I have heard that only 10 men in a millon suffer from breast cancer. His mother and aunt both died from the disease,I was wondering if even men should be screened.
He is very overwieght at 388lbs. this may have something to do with it.

Yes!!!! The Moobs had nothing to do with it. Every female related to him needs to get screened regularly and any first degree males should get screened.

When a male gets breast cancer it?s almost always genetic so all 1 degree men and any female gets tested!

Viper is correct. You?re probably a little to distant to worry, but all of his direct relatives should get tested for the gene that causes breast cancer. I think it?s Her2/Neu or something like that.

Not sure if it is hereditary, but as the first guy said it is probably likely is. I remember hearing about Rod Roddy the Price Is Right announcer had breast cancer and had a wieght problem and unfortunately lost his life to cancer.

But in the case of your cousin, if they caught it in time he should stand a good chance of surviving. I wish him the best of luck.
