NSW-based artist, Emma Gale draws inspiration from everyday life. Her work celebrates pattern, colour, and the use of different textiles, which combine to create bold and powerful images of recognisable faces such as Frida Kahlo, Elvis Presley, Andy Warhol, and Vincent Van Gogh, among others.
The common thread linking these pop culture references is that they are all centred on experimentation with textile desgins, but why wouldn?t they be? After all, Gale?s background is in graphic art and textiles.
It would appear that Gale?s interest is fame; not for herself, but for the artists, musicians, and politicians and how strongly they want it. Her minimalist technique speaks volumes about the human condition, and those that we recognise as famous, thus in the line of attention.
